CEU Approved to Reopen Campus for Limited Face-to-Face Classes on Selected Health Science Programs
Centro Escolar University has received Certificates of Authority to reopen its Manila campus to conduct limited face-to-face classes for its Dentistry, Nursing, and Medical Technology programs before the end of June 2021.
As stated in the certification, the University has “complied with the requirements of the Commission on Higher Education and Department of Health for the reopening of campuses of higher education institutions for limited face-to-face classes during the COVID-19 pandemic as embodied in the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2021-001, covering the period effective until the first semester Academic Year 2021-2022”.
Students who were not able to complete their clinic requirements and were supposed to graduate last year will be prioritized for the School of Dentistry.
The University’s laboratories and facilities are ready and equipped to cater to the needed hands-on training of the students. It is through the phantom heads in the dental clinical laboratories that the dentistry students will be able to practice dental procedures. For the nursing students, the CEU Nursing Arts Laboratory has simulated operating room and delivery room with available birthing mannequins. Lastly, the University has a clinical laboratory licensed by DOH and accredited by CHED for the practice of the Medical Technology students.
Safety and health protocols are already in place and will be implemented once the limited classes start. As also part of ensuring the safety of the students, the University initially talked to the parents and students and even issued certificates for them to get vaccinated in their particular local government units.
Through the efforts and thorough planning of the University, led by Dr. Ma. Cristina Padolina, President and Chief Academic Officer together with Dr. Pearly Lim, Dean, School of Dentistry, Dr. Charito Bermido, Dean, School of Medical Technology, and Dr. Elvira Urgel, Dean, School of Nursing, CEU will be able to continue producing quality health science graduates and provide for the country’s need of medical frontliners.
