School of Medical Technology

Established in 1960, the CEU School of Medical Technology was one of the pioneer higher education institutions offering the program in the country. Since then, it has molded medical technologists with intensive and updated training provided by seasoned practitioners, and enhanced with the most modern laboratory equipment and facilities.

To become the leading provider of Medical Technologists competent in the delivery of laboratory services required in modern health care.

The School of Medical Technology is dedicated to produce globally competitive graduates in laboratory medicine imbued with professional ethics, exemplary attitudes and values impacting the society, in both national and international settings.

 

Distinct Features

  • The FIRST Medical Technology program with the HIGHEST LEVEL of accreditation, LEVEL IV, by PACUCOA, as certified by FAAP, last re-accredited on March 2019
  • CHED-Accredited hospital affiliations 
  • Complete laboratory facilities for Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Drug Testing, HIV and Hepatitis Screening,  Clinical Microscopy, and Molecular Diagnostics
  • Clinical Laboratory Practice (CLP) incorporated in the Laboratory Management course where students take rigid oral, written, and practical examinations. 
  • Faculty members are certified by the American Society of Clinical  Pathologists (ASCP) and American Medical Technologists (AMT) and are active officers/members of the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health Incorporated (PASMETH), Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET), Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM), Philippine Academy of Microbiology (PAM), and Philippine Society of Parasitology (PSP), ASEAN Association of Schools of Medical Technology (AASMT), American Society of Microbiology (ASM)
  • Accredited as training clinical laboratory classified as Category III by the Bureau of Health Services and Facilities, DOH 
  • Research classes make use of molecular diagnostic technology- TFIR, PCR, and others

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

The graduates of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology have the ability to:

1.Apply the scientific principles in clinical laboratory.

2.Demonstrate technical competence in the performance of a full range of clinical laboratory tests in the diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases.

3.Devise quality management, biosafety and waste management programs in the clinical laboratory setting.

4.Apply skills proficiently in the collection, processing and analysis of laboratory specimens for diagnosis of diseases and promotion of public health for effective health care system.

5.Practice effective communication, analytical and critical thinking in the profession. 6. Engage in lifelong learning activities in the practice of the profession.

6.Apply skills proficiently in the collection, analysis and projection of health information for an  improved  health care management system

7.Design relevant research in the field of Medical Technology. 8. Manifest leadership qualities and social responsibility by organizing community-oriented activities.

8.Demonstrate interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and ethical practice of the profession 

9.Engage in lifelong learning activities

10.Participate in community-oriented activities including good stewardship and accountability of resources

Laboratories and Facilities

  • Medical Technology Classroom Laboratories
    The laboratories are fitted with facilities and equipment that will aid in providing students with basic knowledge and skills for the performance of routine diagnostic procedures in actual practice.

 

  • CEU Clinical Laboratory
    A tertiary clinical laboratory, the laboratory serves as an actual clinical laboratory for the entire school and trains students in preparation for actual clinical practice.

 

  • CEU Centennial Research Laboratories
    These laboratories are fitted with some of the more sophisticated equipment and facilities and are dedicated for both undergraduate and graduate research studies.
