CEU Dentistry Students Completed Clinicals via Limited Face-to-Face Classes

13 August 2021

Centro Escolar University School of Dentistry’s first batch of clinicians who voluntarily participated in the limited face-to-face classes completed their clinical requirements from the period of June 28, 2021 to August 5, 2021.

The 214 successful clinicians will be able to join the upcoming virtual graduation rites of the School on September 24, 2021 provided that they have no deficiencies. The graduates will then be qualified to take the Dentist Licensure Examination scheduled this November-December 2021.

Continuing education in a face-to-face setup comes with a lot of restrictions and protocols to follow to ensure the health and safety of the students, faculty and personnel. It has not been an easy process to conduct the classes given the limitations now, but with the University’s relentless commitment to provide quality education and produce quality graduates especially in the health sciences, everything has been possible.

“The School was able to help the students complete their requirements despite the pandemic. The facilities were prepared in compliance with CHED, DOH and LGU requirements. We conducted several dialogues with the students to discuss with them the health protocols of the University. We also ensured that all concerned in the conduct of face-to-face classes strictly follow the health protocols including the faculty and staff such as wearing of masks and face shields, observe physical distancing and wearing of PPEs inside the infirmary”, shared Dr. Pearly P. Lim, Dean of the CEU School of Dentistry.

All clinicians, faculty, technicians, janitors and security guards are required to undergo swab test prior to the start of the classes on a weekly basis. Aside from this, the clinicians’ health status is also monitored every day when they go home or go back to their dormitories, and a week after their last day of face-to-face classes.

A few of the students with remaining clinical requirements were not able to participate due to various reasons. Some of them went abroad before the pandemic cannot return to the Philippines due to travel restrictions, thus they failed to complete the requirements.
