CEU Shines at MMHRDC 8th International Symposium and 15th Annual Scientific Conference

Centro Escolar University demonstrated its commitment to excellence in research and innovation at the 8th International Symposium and 15th Annual Scientific Conference of the Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium (MMHRDC).

As an active member of MMHRDC, CEU participated in both the Mural Presentation and Health Innovation categories, earning recognition in both competitions. The research project of School of Optometry’s Ms. Jaica Navarro, titled "The Antimicrobial Activity of Alginate Extracted from Sargassum cristaefolium as Disposable Ophthalmic Lens Wiper and its Effects on Lens Surfaces," secured 2nd place in the Health Innovation category. This project highlights the potential of natural compounds in creating innovative healthcare solutions and emphasizes the critical role of research in enhancing medical technology.

In the Mural Presentation competition, Ms. Trisha Mae Maragana from the School of Pharmacy emerged victorious with her study on the "In Vitro COX Inhibitory Activity of Red Bamboo Ginger (Alpinia luteocarpa Elmer) Rhizomes," which won first place. The mural effectively communicated the study's significant findings, highlighting the medicinal potential of natural products in managing inflammation-related conditions.

This year's event, themed "Health, Scholarship, Technology, and Humanity: Synergistic Forces in Advancing Global Health," was hosted by Our Lady of Fatima University and provided a platform for students and researchers from the Consortium's member institutions to showcase their groundbreaking works.

By participating in the MMHRDC competitions, CEU continues to contribute to the advancement of global health, emphasizing the importance of integrating health, scholarship, technology, and humanity in addressing today’s healthcare challenges.
