CEU TeTraOLT Focused on Upskilling in Outcome-Based Education
Centro Escolar University provided anew a series of Teacher Training for Online Learning and Teaching (TeTraOLT) designed to upskill the faculty members’ knowledge on producing complete and effective learning modules.
The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) process focuses on what is to be learned—the outcomes, which literature claims to lead students’ success in learning because it encourages teachers to be fully prepared. The success of the OBE implementation depends heavily on teachers, thus comprehensive understanding and knowledge of it are vital.
Faculty from CEU, Centro Escolar Integrated School (CEIS) and Centro Escolar Las Piñas (CELP) participated in the two-week training sessions.
The virtual event kicked off with a talk by Dr. Jonathan Macayan, OBE Expert, and Dean, School of Social Science and Education at Mapua Institute of Technology. He discussed the OBE Principles and Process.
Dr. Violeta Valladolid, Research Coordinator at Institutional Testing and Evaluation Office of De La Salle University, discussed “Towards Constructive Alignment” which included Authentic Assessment Tools and Methods and Developing Rubrics for different Assessment Tasks on the second day.
The two other resource persons were Dr. Carlo Magno, Founder, Center for Learning and Assessment Development – Asia, Faculty, Ateneo de Davao and Phil. Normal University and Mr. Peter John, Digital Delivery Manager, Wiley.
Through the Office of the Academic Affairs led by CEU Senior Vice President, Dr. Teresa Perez, this kind of significant training offered to the teachers ensures improved learning materials suited for the current class setup.
