CEU Alumna Part of National Winning Team “Perlas Pilipinas”

Centro Escolar University alumna, Janine Pontejos, was one of the players of Perlas Pilipinas in the 2016 SEABA (Southeast Asian Basketball Association) Women’s Championship where the Philippine team bagged gold after defeating Malaysia with 77-73 last September 25, 2016 held in Malacca City, Malaysia. 

Pontejos, a former CEU Women’s Basketball Varsity player, contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds in the final game.

This victory served as the country’s first SEABA title since 2010. 

The number 22 player graduated last April with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Management. She became a member of Perlas Pilipinas Ballers which is sponsored by Black Water. 

She was also named as the Most Valuable Player for four consecutive years and was always a part of the Mythical Five both for WNCAA, NAASCU, 2011 National WNCAA, and Dickies Cup 2015. 

For years, CEU has been a good training ground for its student athletes through participation in sports events on campus and in national leagues.
