15th CEU Quality Awards: A Grand Day of Honoring Excellence

Centro Escolar University, once again set its grand day of recognizing employees who embody distinct quality attributes and deliver excellent quality service and practices on its 15th Quality Awards Day on July 18, 2017 held at the Librada Avelino Auditorium of CEU Manila.

 

President of the Philippine Society for Quality Mrs. Corazon Tan, the guest speaker emphasized that quality is a journey which has no end and makes work a life more meaningful. For her, it is not just about work life but both work and life.

 

Since 2003, the CEU Quality Awards symbolizes the University’s dedication to uphold the highest standards of quality service and a way of acknowledging that each person or group is vital to the attainment of its goals.

 

Dr. Sofia Magdalena Robles of the School of Nursing-Manila was named Teacher of the Year. Outstanding Non-Teaching Employee of the Year went to Ms. Emelda Rivera (Supervisory) from the Office of the Registrar-Manila and Ms. Armie T. Pagkatipunan (Non-Supervisory) from the School of Pharmacy-Manila. 

 

Also one of the major awards is the “Research of the Year” and out of the five entries, the research on “Preferred Marketing Communication Media, Tools and Platforms of Target Markets of CEU: Inputs to Enhance the University Marketing Communications Plan” by Dr. Ma. Eleanor C. Espinas and Dr. Amelita M. Borlongan emerged to be the best. 

 

Aside from the exemplar employees being awarded, the day is also intended to recognize the 7s Model Work and Student Areas which observe consistent adherence to the principles of 7s by providing its personnel a safe and pleasant working environment conducive to improved work efficiency, and in support of the quality and policy of the University. For the student category, the School of Nursing Student Council Area received the title. 

 

Several facilities from each campus were also named 7s Model Work Areas. For Manila, the Health Services Department (Large Category), School of Nutrition and Hospitality Management (Medium Category), and University Publications Office (Small Category) received the distinction, while the Office of the Vice President (Large Category) and Dentistry and Pharmacy Department (Small Category) were the awardees for the Makati campus in Gil Puyat. The College of Management and Technology (Large Category) and Cash Section (Small Category) were the ideal work areas for Malolos.

 

Team C, composed of Dr. Rosario Donalyne L. Manigbas, Mr. Ferdinand L. Medina, Ms. Jovie C. Rodriguez, and Mr. John Luigi B. Millamina was named Best Internal Quality Audit Sub-Team.

 

The ICT Thinkers from the Information and Communications Technology Department with Mr. Joey O. Chua as Team Leader and members namely, Mr. June P. De Jesus, Mr. Michael G. Catacutan, Ms. Czarina Mitz N. Natino, Ms. Jennifer G. Quieta, Mr. Angelo M. Reyes, and Cristeta C. Sumiran were the Best Quality Circle awardees.

 

Recipient of the CEU Stars Award is Mr. Christian C. Galo from the Student Affairs Office-Manila, with his establishment of the CEU Green Thumb, an organization composed of passionate teachers, employees and students who will research on new ways of helping mother earth, educate people, apply practices, and sustain a system in order to create a positive impact to people and nature.

 

This year’s event was chaired by Dr. Carmencita Salonga, Head of the CEU Guidance and Counseling Department. Dr. Erna V. Yabut and Dr. Maria E. dela Cruz acted as consultants.
