CEU MedTech Professor Qualifies for Training Grant in Japan

Centro Escolar University School of Medical Technology lecturer, Professor Joy Potenciano Calayo qualified for a three-month training by the Japan government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which will be held at the Research Institute of Tuberculosis in Japan.

Prof. Calayo will join the other seven laboratory managers and medical technologists chosen from the numerous applicants from six priority countries which include the Philippines. The training will focus on the topic “Advanced Diagnostics for Ending TB and AMR in Health Emergency-Basic Technologies to Next Generation Sequencing in Hands-on”. This will run up to April of this year.

Prof. Calayo is currently the chief medical technologist of San Lazaro Hospital. She is a Certified Biorisk Officer. She also specializes in Microbiology and is a researcher with a number of research publication.
